The sewing room is my favorite place in our home. I'm the happiest when I can spend a few hours playing in the piles of fabric creating new things for our home and the store.

This was once someone's kitchen table then turned work table (based on the paint can rings I found). After scrubbing and more than six coats of poly, (I lost count after six) it now serves as sewing machine central. The old Singer Sewing Machine I got at an auction. Could have had it for $1, but missed out and bought it afterwards from a man for $5.

This was a vintage grocery store shelf in its past life. My husband added bead board to the back and I painted it out in white to set off the fabric colors.

This was once a DMC Floss display case at a retail store, I scored it for $1 at an estate sale and added the cheese boxes to sort my thread. An old refrigerator wire basket to utilize the space under the shelving unit for more fabric.

Old yardsticks mounted to a board and vintage hooks added to hold all my strapping. A Ball jar lamp with buttons and an old carpenter's tool box to keep my scissors and sewing tools organized and close at hand.

A wooden ironing board my husband cut in half, added brackets and hung above the grocery store shelf of fabric.

An old burning basket is great for keeping my rolls of fabric under control.

A vintage laundry rolling cart I nabbed at a garage sale for $3 holds my pile of linens waiting to be ironed. I was such a happy girl the day I brought this home as I've always wanted one.
Hope you've enjoyed a look around the sewing room. A wise woman (my mom) once told me if I wait til the laundry is done and the house is clean I'll never get around to sewing. So leave the laundry and let the dust bunnies linger a little longer while you enjoy some time with your sewing machine.
