Vintage Rick Rack is one of my favorites. It's 100% cotton, it's color fast and the colors are beautiful.
A few years ago during one of my garage sale adventures I came upon the nicest older couple that shared my love for vintage wares. Their garage sale soon became one of my favorites. It was always well organized, their items were clean and their prices were like old style garage sales, Cheap! I memorized their address and watched for their sales every spring and fall. They themselves loved attending auctions and had a rental space in a local antique shop to sell their finds. I've purchased a large variety of items from them over the years, furniture, architecture pieces, dishes, frames, linens and lots of vintage Rick Rack.
At an auction years ago they purchased a few large boxes filled with cartons of vintage rick rack. The boxes were packed in their original state that a store would receive to stock their shelves. I bought a few of the darling aqua cartons filled with rick rack and several other individual packages.
Over the years I've used several packages on lampshades, pillows, bags or on gifts instead of ribbon. There are just so many uses for rick rack, it's a staple in most sewing rooms.
The packages shown are from my personal stash. While stocking up again at the couple's spring garage sale, the woman informed me this was the last of the rick rack. Upon hearing the sad news, I proceeded to buy out the rest of her stock and brought the remaining packages to the store to share with our customers.
I love looking through the old labels, I've saved them all for projects down the road. I really wish the prices were the same today!
