Mr. Fix-it spotted it on his way back from getting gas.
"There's something over on Main St. I think you might want. It's like an old stove or something...out on someone's curb."
I wasn't too eager, picturing a huge, beastly heavy, white vintage stove. Which is usually a titanic-sized boat anchor in the vintage retail world (believe me, I've turned down plenty). I wasn't excited, but agreed to take the empty van over a couple blocks for a check. I have had good luck in my little, local town.
Had he mentioned it was green??? You know how I feel about green...I have a whole Pinterest board devoted to my favorite color.
Someone had obviously had this out in their back 40...since probably the 40's! It was full of crusty leaves, and my main concern was not taking anything alive into my van in the process of getting it home.
It was definitely a stove, but a lightweight, little cutie. I did a google search, and not many images matched. Looks like it maybe was a summer kitchen model or a camping model, hence the smaller size and weight. The Ebay ad I saw mentioned "Rare", but you can't believe everything you read!
There were three burners up top, and a nice place for storage down below. Of course the rust doesn't scare me away...I know how to make it beautiful. I'm picturing this piece as a really awesome bathroom sink. I'm going to check the IKEA website for some skinny, white, rectangular sinks that could be dropped in to where the burners are. Can't you just picture it? With a wall mount, bridge faucet with the old fashioned "H" and "C" on the porcelain? Now I've got you going! Vision, people...
Besides, the parts are as cool as the body...which Mr. Fix-it is starting to catch on to.
I'm picturing the white and black burners sitting on an old square of barnboard, with the ring pieces attatched to the top (once they've been scrubbed and poly'd). A short little grouping of votive candles inside that little window, and the fall centerpiece is started! The wick holders would also look cute attached to a board, with a thicker pillar candle in each. The grates are honestly just great all by themselves as wall architecture. Maybe a typography letter in the middle?
All it takes to get my ideas flowing is a little roadside treasure...now if the elves would just have all those ideas accomplished by morning!
OH MY GOSH! What a find and what an awesome husband to pass along a lead on a rusty treasure! Can't wait to see what you do with it!

Can't wait to have enough time to work on it; gotta get these kids back in school. They start the day after Labor Day-oh to have some big chunks of time to work!
