This piano bench has been sleeping in our attic for years. Found it during my early auctioning days.
Early last spring (when the snow was still flying) I was on a mission to rid the attic of some pieces. The piano bench was no longer needed for it's intended purpose because Bethany had given up the piano several years earlier. The piano was long gone, Brian and I had taken it apart, you can read about it, Piano Dismantling.
I painted the piano bench a beautiful sage green and took it to the store to sell. We heard lots of comments that people liked the color, but no one took it home. We always have a hard time selling green pieces, Lora and I love the color green, but it's not very popular with our customers.
The top had recieved some slight water damage so I took it home to repair. While repainting the top, I realized this would look great in our home. We got some new furniture for our family room and I've had the bug to practically turn the house upside down.
This made my whole day when I realized my laptop fit inside. I love having clutter out of sight. The side tables(a desk cut apart) keep the laptop cords, remotes, books etc. under wraps.
I love the height, it's a little taller than the traditional coffee tables. It's perfect to prop my feet on and catch up on my blog reading. I noticed while furniture hunting, the furniture stores are also catching on to the taller coffee table style.
That is such a great idea! I love that you have a place to put your laptop out of sight! Well done!

This is lovely and I too love that you can store stuff inside. The style coordinates beautifully with the rest of the room (that I can see) too.
I did the opposite with a sofa table. I had one of those long narrow tables that sits behind a sofa but didn't have a place for it when we moved into our house. I ended up chopping the legs shorter and we use it as a bench to sit on at our dining room table. We were able to add room for two additional adults to sit at our table without having to purchase the $$$ chairs to match. I love repurposed stuff like this!

Love that idea, we've cut the legs off to make a coffee table, but didn't even think of the bench idea. I love blogs, learn something new everyday!
