Thought I'd share with you how I created my cork board memo organizer for my desk organization. I'd like you to note that none of the materials are old! Hardly ever happens around here...
I received this cool birds on a wire frame from my mom for my birthday. She knows what I like...anything with birds, anything green or aqua, and if it's old or looks aged...good to go.
I liked it, but felt it would look a little lonely hanging on a painted wall, and wanted to maximize it's usefulness beyond the big clips. I decided backing it with cork would be very useful, but the birds would get lost on dark colored cork. I picked up some adorable fabric at Crafty Planet, one of Happy Girl's favorite places to shop.
I laid the fabric down, and cut around the frame, giving myself a good margin to fold around. I then ironed the wrinkles out.
The thick brown cork comes in 12" squares. I needed to cut them with an exacto knife to size and glue them together. I glued them together using E6000, one of my favorite adhesives for non-wood adhesion.
I gave them plenty of time to dry on newspaper. I then laid the cork on the fabric, with the good side out, of course, and used tacky glue to glue the fabric to the cork.
When dry, I flipped it over and used E6000 again to adhere the metal frame to the front side. I gave it plenty of time to dry, again.
I've been enjoying the beauty and functionality of this piece so much! And what an easy project. You could use this same idea with an old window frame, or other architectural piece.
What a great idea to make it a cork memo organizer. I also love birds and the colors green and teal. It looks awesome.

Thanks, Maria! I was noticing how well it went with the whole look of our blog...guess I'm consistent with my tastes! Thanks for reading! Hopefully the real spring birds will be singing soon!
