My husband and daughter found this workbench during one of their Saturday morning treasure hunts while I was working at the store.
When I looked the piece over, I noticed a little aqua color where a few specks of paint had chipped away. That made my day.
With sander in hand and many hours later this was revealed.
I love the big bolts holding this piece together.
I discovered the entire top was covered with a piece of masonite and some metal stripping. I removed the top shelving piece, metal stripping and masonite...
This beautiful wood top was just waiting to be revealed.
Brian switched out the hardware for me, to these chunky handles. I think they are fitting for this large piece.
Added painted bead board to enclose the back.
It's going to make a wonderful craft/sewing room table or a nice desk in someone's office. It sold quickly so the styling picture didn't happen. Snapped this just before it went out the door.
Lora and I always say we love the stuff in the garage and the basements. You never know what treasures are waiting. You may be looking at your husband's workbench in the garage a little differently now!
Lots of people tell bloggers that they did an amazing job on something. But, you REALLY did an amazing job on this piece. I know how much work that took because I have a shop, too. To find the color of the decade below was terrific. You did such a good job sanding it to the perfect point. What kind of sander do you use? Orbital, belt or palm sander? The beadboard was the perfect finishing touch.

Thank you so much. Your kind words are such an encouragement to us. I used a palm sander on this piece, slow going, but worth it to get the look I wanted. Your comments don't show up right away, we have to publish them. Keep them coming, we love hearing from you.
