The stores are bursting with flowers, candy, cards with sweet sentiments and jewelry for this upcoming Valentine's Day. I had so much fun looking at all the beautiful blooms when I was out and about yesterday.
Our family has a definite love for sweets. Hubby made a good dent in the Valentine's M&M jar.
A care package full of sweet treats for our son in college. A pedicure for our daughter.
Heart cookies for my mom and our family, and some nail polish for me(only because I forgot my bottle at Patina General last weekend).
I bought this plate on clearance years ago when our kids were young with the intention of using it for Valentine's Day treats for our family. It never fails, I run into it in the cupboard a month or two after Valentine's Day. It's not exactly my decorating style so it's not out where I can see it in a decorating vignette. This year I found it early and will have muffins on it tomorrow morning. Finally!
Valentine's Day is fun and oh so sweet, but I appreciate my loving and caring husband who still holds my hand in church after 24 years of marriage, is happy to help when I ask and makes the most mundane tasks fun together. Brian and I laugh pulling weeds in the garden together, going through the car wash or making breakfast on a Saturday morning in the kitchen. He's not a syrup-y romantic, but he makes me feel loved everyday.
My love language is acts of service, I'm more than happy to find the dishwasher unloaded, a load of towels folded or any other minor task completed. I appreciate all the pretty stuff too, but it's not necessary.
There are many qualities we've told our kids to look for in a future spouse... Faith is first and not too far down the list is the ability to take and give a tease. Life is serious enough, so make as many moments as you can light and enjoyable. Laughing goes a long way in marriage, it diffuses those heavy moments and the sacrifices for both sides fade away.
