A few days away with no schedules to keep and some quality time for our family, just what we needed before Jonathan headed back to college and Bethany full speed ahead into soccer season.
The joy of the journey is the car ride, our vehicle was stocked with all the necessary items to make for a successful road trip, magazines, yarn and junk food. The laughter, family teasing and references to the movies "Vacation" with Chevy Chase and "The Great Outdoors" with John Candy began shortly after leaving our dog Scooter at his Bed and Breakfast... AKA Grandma's house.
First stop was Hinkley, the famous Tobies caramel & cinnamon rolls were the perfect treat for breakfast. Sorry no pic, we were hungry and ate the evidence in short order.
Spirit Mountain's alpine slide, zip line and scenic chairlift ride were next on the agenda.
Hiking the trails around Gooseberry Falls is always a family fave.
A scenic 20 mile drive on a dirt road to your campsite really makes you feel like you're up north. When you book last minute you have to trek off the beaten path for accommodations. Our campsite had electricity, so the large Patina General fan made the trip with us. It kept the mosquitoes away from the door and masked a few snores during the night to make for a good night's sleep for all. The cool north air had us tucking our noses under the covers during the night.
A hike up the Temperance River and sunshine were good for the soul.
You never tire of seeing gorgeous water falls and listening to the rushing waters. We had a great time and can't wait to make another trip with the family and hit some more sites on our list.
Looks like you had a great time with great weather! So nice to get away all together; hard to achieve with big kids! Makes me want to head north!
