Here's a small sampling of my favorites during our visit to the Congdon Mansion in Duluth, Minnesota.
I'm pretty sure if this were my house, I'd do more than just eat breakfast in this beautiful space.
This is the linen closet that makes my heart go pitter, patter. What I wouldn't give to transport this to my house. The beautiful wavy glass cupboard doors make me green with envy. I can just picture these cupboards filled with my large collection of vintage pillowcases. Wouldn't the hand crocheted edges and detailed embroidery look amazing through those doors? Stacks of vintage quilts and chenille bedspreads would be right at home in this linen closet. The scary thought is that I probably have enough linens to fill this beautiful yet utilitarian space.
This is just one of many built in pieces throughout the mansion that made me go weak in the knees.
While most tourists were ooohing and ahhhhing over the fancy parlor, the grandness of the dining room or the exquisite pieces of artwork, I was taking in the functional yet beautiful architectural throughout the mansion. You know I have a soft spot for pieces with lots of drawers.
Sorry for the blurry pic, had to take it fast with others waiting behind me for a peek inside the sewing and alterations room. Check out the wall of built-in cupboards in the background. I would have a lot of fun filling that wall with my fabric stash.
The exterior architecture was equally beautiful, so much to enjoy.
No detail was overlooked in the building of this mansion. Check out the amazing details on the downspouts, the monogrammed "C" just makes me laugh. It's not exactly visible to most (except me), since it resides close to the third floor.
It was such a joy to experience this beautiful mansion and all its glory with Bethany, she's considering interior design as her future career.
Hope you enjoyed my mini tour. If you have the chance, visit this home in person, it's well worth it.
