Memorial weekend Saturday at the cabin is all about hitting the small town garage sales for the girl-folk, plus one man-folk. I'd managed to avoid any new acquisitions this spring, since getting rid of items as we closed the store was more important to me, so last Saturday I let myself have a little fun!

Last spring my daughter and I stumbled onto a fun sale. We both went separate ways to divide and conquer. She loves the hunt and she knows her stuff. We met in the middle and both had large piles to show for our efforts.
In the craft room was a nice stash of vintage yarn in a variety of colors. I like these for fall and knew they would make fun yarn balls.

When my friends came curbside junking with me for the first time this spring, they were inquisitively watching from their vehicle as I jumped out to grab quite a few old hoses. When we stopped for lunch, they questioned why in the world would I want old hoses? Decorative possibilities galore! Do other people not see the potential? Guess not...not unusual in my life!

One of the most common questions I get being in this crazy business is, "Where do you get all your stuff?". My answer..."Anywhere and Everywhere." This time of year has me swimming in junk. It's coming at me faster than I can deal with it! But it's all good, because if I can find a place for it to rest around here (which is the biggest challenge), I can eventually give it a makeover and bring it to the store!

There is a little farmhouse right up the hill from our church home that's breathing it's last breath today. It's occupant once owned all the property. Thankfully, there were people who reached out and showed love to this homeowner. He's enjoying his heavenly palatial home now, because of them.

One of the questions we get asked the most often is, "Where do you find all your stuff?" We usually answer, "Anywhere and everywhere"! You've seen some of our posts on church sales, auctions, estate sales, curbside clean-up days, and friend's basements. My newest winter-time entertainment, way of finding treasures for PG is on-line auctions.

To some this may be a pile of JUNK, to me it's TREASURES in the making.

Never, ever overlook the "Free" bin at a garage sale. I'm preaching to the choir here, because I, yes I, queen junker extrordinaire, overlooked the end of the driveway in pursuit of the costly goods inside. My keen garage-saler, sister-in-law, scooped up this very stinky pile of cheap entertainment. Oh, we do have fun together at the small-town sales over Labor Day weekend!

Mr. Fix-it spotted it on his way back from getting gas.
"There's something over on Main St. I think you might want. It's like an old stove or something...out on someone's curb."

I became a stalker a few weeks ago; on the hunt of some of these great, vintage chairs. Mr. Fix-it and I were on our way back from returning all the grad party tables and chairs to the store: 2 van loads. Ahead of me was a flatbed truck with 6 fiberglass chairs tied on. All I could think of was, "I really hope he's not planning on scrapping those chairs!"
