I told my husband earlier this year to fasten his seat belt, because this spring was going to be a wild ride.

These past few days have reminded me that this business is not about the junk...it's about the people. The junk will come and go, and the pretty will be made and then ripped apart and remade, but the relationships we've made will endure...and that's what we're celebrating.
It's the season of growing! Buds are bursting, plants are popping up, and new life is filling this new season! The same can be said of Patina General. We are decked out for the new season of growth with bright, happy colors for April Occasional, and we are also hoping that someone out there may want to be the new owner(s) of Patina General!

Taking pictures is definitely an art. Good photographers have been trained, and have learned from experience not only the technical side of their camera's capabilities, but also how to capture the perfect lighting and setting to create their art. Blogs that have skyrocketed are usually in large part due to their authors being great photographers. We all are drawn to beautiful images, and in turn they drive what we purchase also.

There's some shop-keeping tips and wisdom I've been thinking I should share with you. Quite a few of our readers are shop owners themselves, or sell items in a dealer-type store, or at seasonal event-type venues. And we get a lot of questions about how we go about owning a store that's only open 4 1/2 days a month. I decided every once in awhile I'll describe some of the different aspects of our business, in hopes that it will help some of you with yours.
Last night I sat with my laptop in a comfy chair and indulged myself in other bloggers' highlights of 2015. Then I took the time to look through all my photo files for the whole year. It's kind of fun to reminisce about all that's happened, good and bad, because this business is always an adventure!

I know we've been told to "eat our greens", but today I'm telling you to fluff your greens! This week and after Thanksgiving, the artificial greens will be coming out of their bags and boxes with a year's worth of crumpling. Please, please, please, don't just hang them this way, or start putting the decorations on...the inner florist in me pleads with you!
Today my baby went off to his first practice of high school sports. A new season has begun...on many fronts. My kids are all "old"...no more preschool, no more grade school, not even middle school. I am officially an "old" mom. Sigh.
But as life goes, new adventures await! As Patina General is celebrating our 5 year birthday in September, we are embarking on a whole new aspect of business, and are excited about it! Let me fill you in on what led us to starting an on-line store...
